Toilets Needed

Imagine going to the toilet here. Yuck, right?

It’s the reality for boys and girls in Haisyn, Ukraine. It’s really just two rows of holes in the ground inside two communal rooms, one for boys and another for girls. The building has cracks and broken windows which let the elements in (and out). There are no doors and no privacy. There’s no place to wash afterwards. No toilet paper or soap of any kind can be found.

The school shut down for 5 weeks last fall because of the high number of flu cases in Haisyn. This is a direct correlation to the lack of hand washing, absence of soap, and no education about how germs are spread.
